Around the World
In March 2003 Board members Khatija Kazi and Bilks Mayet visited Malaysia and Indonesia. They visited orphanages in both countries and explored options for adoptions by Muslim American families. Also, aid was provided in the form of provisions, computers and sewing machines. At one orphanage the children requested pizza as they had never had it before and were curious thanks to the pizza ads on TV. The Board members arranged for the children to have pizza to their hearts' content, thanks to members of Niswa who provided the donations.
In Hyderabad India Shamim Ibrahim visited the Muslimah Trust's Salamah Residential School which houses orphans from Gujarat, victims of the recent riots. There are 150 boys are 50 girls in separate residential facilities. Their effort is very commendable and needs our support. Sponsorship of children is available.
